Boothbay Craft Brewery and Watershed Tavern Tap Technology to Brew Success

Customer Since 2009

Background

At the Watershed Tavern in rural Boothbay, Maine, guests can peer into Boothbay Craft Brewery, where the house favorite bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout is brewed as they enjoy their locally sourced farm-to-table meals. Lori and Win Mitchell built their brewery and adjoining tavern from the ground up – literally – using materials donated by the community through their “Beams to Brewery” campaign. Today, their operation spans seven acres and houses six guest cottages and an RV site, as well.

The establishment attracts both locals and guests from around the globe, thanks to a strong Web and social media presence managed by their son Cody. Running one of Boothbay’s most popular community gathering spots is a demanding job, so the Mitchells count on Time Warner Cable Business Class to provide the reliable business solutions that help keep their business – and beer – flowing.

Solutions

The Mitchells use high-speed Internet and WiFi services daily in both the tavern and brewery. Tavern staff use the reliable connection to take reservations, track inventory and manage online orders, while the brewery uses it primarily to streamline management of their keg inventory.

Both establishments utilize their Business Class Phone lines to connect with vendors and operate their point-of-sale system for seamless credit card transactions. Features like call forwarding allow Lori to handle reservations on her mobile phone from anywhere, while caller ID allows her to return missed calls from customers and vendors – even when they don’t leave a voicemail. Meanwhile, “if the kids come, they want the TV, the guys want to watch the ball game, so we  have to have cable TV,” says Lori.

“With Time Warner Cable Business Class, I get phone, Internet and TV. The bundling helps us immensely – it keeps it really streamlined,” says Win. “I know what I’m getting for services,  and I deal with one company.”

Results

WiFi connectivity reliably reaches guests from the tavern to the cabins and RV site. And,  high-speed Internet has been invaluable for social media efforts driven by both Cody and Boothbay patrons.

“People check in using the Facebook Bluetooth beacon on the wall. They get information from  our page on their phone, and they can tag another person,” explains Lori. “That’s priceless; we can’t even put a number on how it’s increased our business.”

Beyond social media, the Mitchells credit the overall reliability of advanced technology from  Time Warner Cable Business Class in helping them fulfill their business goals across the board.

“We really rely on Time Warner Cable Business Class to deliver that technology so we can provide the best service for our customers,” says Lori. “We couldn’t run our business without it.”
