Time Warner Cable Business Class Lending its Expertise on Cloud Computing to Veterans in the Capital District

May 2014 | Albany, NY

Cloud computing is one of the latest trends in today’s business world, enabling businesses of all sizes to have their information technology services delivered without the cost and complexities of managing them with in-house resources. To help Capital District veterans better understand how cloud services can help strengthen their businesses, experts from Time Warner Cable Business Class and its NaviSite subsidiary will present a seminar on May 14, in Glenville, NY.

The breakfast seminar will run from 7:30 – 9:30AM at the Navy Operational Support Center and is being organized by the Veterans Business Outreach Centers (VBOC). Time Warner Cable’s participation was initiated by the company’s VetNet group, which is a network of employees that support the professional development of veterans within Time Warner Cable and do work in the local community in support of those who have served our country.

James Manchester is Senior Vice President of Application Operations for Time Warner Cable, as well as Chairman of the company’s veteran’s task force and Executive Sponsor of VetNet. Manchester said, “As a veteran of the armed forces, I am proud of Time Warner Cable’s commitment to help fellow vets build strong careers outside of the military. The emergence of cloud computing shows us again how technology is always changing, fascinating, and important to the success of any business.”

The event will also include updates on veteran issues from leaders representing the Capital District, including Congressman Paul Tonko, State Senator Cecilia Tkaczyk, Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, Assemblyman James Tedisco, and VBOC New York State Program Coordinator Amy Amoroso.

Congressman Tonko said, “Service members and their families have earned our respect and gratitude for their sacrifice and service to our nation, and we must look to support them through every stage of their service – including after they have separated from active duty. This seminar will help veterans looking to own their own business and hire locally in the Capital Region to harness emerging technologies and compete in the global marketplace. I applaud Time Warner Cable’s commitment to area veterans and look forward to working more with them in the future to enhance the way we do business in New York.”

“I’m honored to take part in Time Warner Cable’s seminar to provide our distinguished veterans with the resources they need to enhance their businesses and careers upon their return home,” said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara. “Having honorably served our nation, these returning heroes deserve all the assistance we can provide them to take their businesses to the next level.”

Cloud computing services refer to one or more offsite computers that store, manage and process data and software applications that are accessible via an Internet connection. Cloud computing is appropriate for any business that could benefit from not having to internally manage company hardware technology and software maintenance, resulting in many benefits including cost effectiveness, ability to store data in secure off-site locations, and flexibility to pay only for the service that a business needs.
