Time Warner Cable Business Class Named Top Cable Company on Vertical Systems Group’s U.S. Carrier Ethernet LEADERBOARD
March 2014 | New York, NY
Time Warner Cable Business Class (TWCBC) announced today it was named the top cable company on Vertical Systems Group’s U.S. Carrier Ethernet LEADERBOARD based on port share results for year-end 2013. TWCBC jumped to fifth overall in the research firm’s rankings, up three spots from number eight in the previous year’s survey. The Vertical Systems Group LEADERBOARD is the industry’s foremost benchmark for measuring Ethernet Service Provider market presence based on billable retail port installations.
Known for its innovation in Ethernet services, TWCBC has leveraged its dense fiber and Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) networks to remain at the forefront of the industry and provide services for some of the largest companies in the country. The company remains a leader in retail Ethernet services and has grown to be a major provider of carrier services like cell tower backhaul and wholesale access.
"Cable companies have developed a winning formula for the U.S. business Ethernet market," said Rick Malone, principal at Vertical Systems Group. "They are successfully leveraging their on-net fiber footprints to offer aggressive pricing and rapid service provisioning. As the top cable provider on our LEADERBOARD, Time Warner Cable Business Class is demonstrating great growth potential by being a leader in the industry.”
This recognition comes on the heels of TWCBC’s announcement that the company is the first and only North American company to receive all eight Carrier Ethernet (CE) 2.0 certifications granted by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF).
“Being recognized by a respected firm like Vertical Systems Group as the top cable company for Carrier Ethernet is wonderful validation of our leadership position in the industry, something we earn every day servicing the thousands of businesses which rely upon our highly reliable and scalable Ethernet services” said Greg King, Senior Vice President and Chief Product and Strategy Officer, Time Warner Cable Business Services. “The recent enhancement of our service with MEF CE2.0 certification, paired with our aggressive network expansion program, further demonstrates our commitment to provide wide-area network services to demanding, standards-driven customers."
TWCBC Ethernet services are widely available in over 58,000 fiber-lit buildings and 800,000 DOCSIS-equipped buildings. The company provides customers reliable MEF CE 2.0 certified Ethernet Private Line (EPL), Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL), Ethernet LAN (E-LAN) and wholesale Ethernet-Access (Access EPL) network solutions to interconnect business locations within and across metro and regional markets. Services are scalable and offer high bandwidth solutions with speeds ranging from under 1 Mbps and up to 10 Gbps (speeds available in most areas). TWCBC Ethernet is delivered over a fiber-rich network backed by industry leading Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
